Story.
No compromises are made when the second oldest amusement park in the world, the Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen, Denmark, lights up for Christmas.
A total of 1 million lights are lighting up the park, which pre-opened in 1843 and will celebrate it´s 180 years old birthday in the coming year.
“I mean, first of all the lights, right. And here we are in the midst of it, with the music playing and the lights. You can just sense that Christmas feeling”, says visitor Nicolaj Vernal, 34.
Buildings are still standing from the first years among the hotel Nimb, which used to be an arabian/berber inspired marketplace. The pantomime theater, which is runned without using electricity.
It got 3,102 pcs. bulbs light set upon its facade, towers and domes on the roof.
For the recordare all the energy for the Christmas lights in Tivoli purchasing from renewable sources of green energy.
A 3.5 kilometer long fir garland is snaked around the theme garden with 130,000 light.
“I love coming to Tivoli in the winter time. Its like Christmas magic”, says OH LAN, Danish international singer and composer, 38.
In 1844 Denmark’s most famous writer, Hans Christian Andersen among others visited the park. It was also the year his friend Charles Dickens wrote “A Christmas Carol”.
“It’s very cozy and and “hyggeligt” as we say in Danish”, says Annette Kongshammer, Visitor, 56.
Tivoli is the most visited amusement park in Denmark with 3.4 mio. guest.
Tivoli will stay open until December 31.
