STORY:

In recent years, the world of sports has witnessed a profound transformation thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.

These cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the way we play, watch, and prepare a sportsmatch.

Some of the newest sports technologies are being presented in Denmark now.

Enter for instance the world of tiny mobile robots equipped with GPS technology, which are revolutionizing the way sports fields are mapped and prepared for play.

Imagine having to be the one that paints all the lines before a football or baseball match precisely.

A robot with GPS secure the field is painting exactly the same, every time – and you do not need to do the walk and all the painting.

Kostas Panayotis, Sales man from Tiny Mobile Robots explains the pitch:
It’s a tough job to go out and paint fields manually and nobody wants to do it anymore. You can’t get volunteers. It’s a difficult job. So with the robot, you can paint the lines, but not only that, you can make some fun with it. Funny logos for events. You can put sponsor logos on the field. So it’s a way for the clubs to get extra sponsorship money and so that’s a lot of new possibilities with the robot.”

The robot ensures that the sponsor logo are painted accurately, compared with manual painting.
It takes around 1 to 2 minutes to put the logo and the soccer-lines on the tablet. And then you would start the robot up and press start and it’ll paint a complete soccer pitch within 25 minutes”, says Kostas Panayotis, from Tiny Mobile Robots.

Ai also enter video filming of matches analyzing the movements. The data are evolutionizing the experiences and knowledge about each match, as organizer Niels Henrik Sørensen explains: “Yeah. As a spectator in the venue in the stadium you can see data. How long has this play up and running? What’s the fastest split? How many goals you know, the distance, how many touches on the ball, correct passes, etc. All this data you can have live in the stadium.”

AI’s ability to measure sports performance and provide fans with live data-driven insights is a new addition to the experience. It is transforming how we engage with the sports club we love to follow.

Another example is massage.
The integration of AI into massage robots enhances the ability to measure the body and provide a precise massage. Ai analyzes body shape, muscle tension, and pressure preferences.
It’s like a constant pressure actually with the vibrations. And when he breezes in then it adapts by pulling away a bit -and when he’s breathing out and it moves closer to his body”, explains Julian Jørgensen, Owner of the Danish Mads, Self Time.

This data is ensuring that the treatment is tailored to the specific injury-needs and comfort levels.
A potential customer from the municipals sportscenter Peter Martin Steffensen tested the robot-massage:
I have this control device where I can just make it go deeper, harder, and then I can adjust it to go a bit more and less power”.

The Ai-robot remember and give the perfect pressure around the body:

So of all the points, are some points harder and some points softer, and through data, we can register that and the program adapts according to that as well.”

And if Peter Martin Steffensen loved his day at work for the Municipal Sports department?

It feels amazing. it feels very good, yeah”.

Until now “replay” has been an important part of watching a match, but AI has the potential to significantly change the experience of sports games.

So changing might be a bit too far, but enriching, I’m sure we will. ” says organizer Niels Henrik Sørensen and cont.:. “But on the athlete’s side, you always train every day to do better tomorrow and technology and data can support that. And on the fan side, obviously you can enrich the experience both in the stadium but also behind the screen across the world”, explains Henrik Sørensen.

The SportTech exhibition was visited by TV-stations, sports-clubs, and municipalities, all seeking better player performance, better service to the fans.

The integration of AI and robotics have unlocked new possibilities in the world of sports. As AI and robotics continue to advance, we can expect even more exciting developments that will redefine the way we play and enjoy sports in the future.
