STORY

Thousands of beach balls were thrown up in the air and onto the football field during the last game of the season for home-team FC Copenhagen at Denmark’s National Football stadion Parken.

FC Copenhagen won this year the championship for the 15th time.

However it is a tradition at every last home-game of the season, that the many fans throw up beach-rings and beach-animals.
FC Copenhagen Fan Asger Bach Holst explains:
“Every year, since 2004, we have been throwing inflatable animals out onto the pitch. Because it is the last chance of the season. To celebrate our team, to celebrate out city, to celebrate the championship this year – with all the best guys around us”

At exactly 13 minutes into the game did 33.500 people on stadion start to throw the beach balls, -animals and -rings up the air, that then jumps around on people’s heads. It literally tumbles down with bad rings and the game has to stop for app. 10 minutes.

It is a tradition that started when a small group of the fans brought a few beach-rings and -animals in 2004. The funny beach-animals jumped around over the spectators during the last game. The group got the idea, because FC Copenhagen´s worst opponent, Brøndby Sports Club from the south of Copenhagen said that FC Copenhagen was only a beach-ball club.  “So we took it to us,” says Thomas Jensen, FC Copenhagen Fan with a smile.

The tradition has become a colorful tradition and a symbol of the spirit in the club for the capital of Denmark.
The many beach animals are now handed out by the club, entering the match.
