STORY
Denmark Exports to China fell to US$3.67 Billion during covid, according to the United Nations database on international trade. It used to be US$4.4.

Meat and fish is nearly ⅓ of the export. The other main goods are machinery for industries and medicine.

In order to re-establish the export to China, do Danish Industries participate in the 6th of 6 possible CIIE – China International Import Exhibition in ShangHai.

Danish Industries Michelle Chen Møller, Consultant, International Market Development says:

“We expect everything to go back to normal compared to the pandemic period. We are very excited as this will be the first time in three years that we are back in person and all of our 2018 companies are very excited as well.”

Denmark is presenting a large national pavilion jointly arranged between the Confederation of Danish Industry and Denmark’s Trade Council in China.

“We are bringing 20 Danish companies” continuous Michelle Chen Møller, Consultant, International Market Development. “And a fun fact is that almost half of them have been participating in all the additions of CIIE since the very beginning. We are also welcoming new companies and this goes on to show how important the Chinese market is”.

Denmark has a proud tradition with the relationship and friendship with China. Diplomatic relations between Denmark and China were officially established in 1950, as the first country in the world after the Chinese revolution. China is today the fourth largest trading partner Denmark has.

“Our experiences, while being at CIIE with the Danish companies, is definitely that CIIE has served as a platform for facilitating market access for us and thereby creating significant business opportunities’ ‘, says Michelle Chen Møller, Consultant, International Market Development and continuous. “CIIE brings economic advantages to Danish industries, but CIIE has also been instrumental in promoting the culture exchange between Denmark and China”.

The Danish Industry thinks China’s commitment to opening up has several key dimensions. “It contributes to economic stability and growth on a global scale, such as global supply chain restoration, diplomacy and soft power”, says Michelle Chen Møller from Danish Industries (DI)

Danish ships have since 1700 been taking care of a lot of the export and import to China. The Danish Maerck is today the biggest container ship company in the world.

For Danish Industries and the participating companies is it “imperative for both Denmark and China to engage in constructive dialog, negotiate agreements and remain adaptable in the face of shifting economic and geopolitical factors”, says Michelle Chen Møller from Danish Industries (DI).

Every year the large Danish pavilion attracts many visitors and much publicity as one of the very popular areas at CIIE.

This year will be extra exciting, as this is the first time in three years that the CIIE will be free from COVID-restrictions, and Danish exhibitors will be able to travel to China to present their products themselves.
