Seller Kasper Hoejen recorded it 16 yeara old making the school paper.
Kasper Hoejen was clearly excited and will share the money with his old schoolmates:
“We can only be satisfied. We were 4 away at the time and we are 3 left. And of course, we need to talk together about how this money must be used”
Bruun Rasmussen’s Alexa Bruun Rasmussen, Director Brand Bruun Rasmussen was expecting a price on €20.000 to €30.000. “Unfortunately it’s confidential who the buyer is, but I can reveal it went abroad, and it was a phone bid, that was lucky getting the actual bedding” .
The recording primarily consists of John Lennon speaking occasionally joined by Ono. He speakshow world peace on their art and music and how everybody can contribute to world peace. There is talk about the length of his hair, and their micro-macro diet. A student asks whether Lennon would play the guitar, and he plays “Radio Peace”, followed by “Give peace a chance”.
Bruun Rasmussen iconic chairman Jesper Bruun Rasmussen was in charge of the auction.
Bids came form the room and form telephone. The price landed om €50.000 / 370.000 dkk – similar to a teachers years salary in Denmark.
Lennon and Ono were in Denmark for private reasons arriving in late December 1969. Anthony Cox, Ono’s ex-husband, had moved to rural north Jutland in Denmark bringing their five-year-old daughter Kyoko with him.
The custody rights were still unresolved, and Ono and Lennon travelled to Denmark to discuss the future of Kyoko.
They were in Denmark for a month
Other subjects on the tape was The Beatles and Lennon’s hair, the Vietnam War. Lennon airs his frustration about the Beatle image. Two weeks later a hairdresser was called to cut Lennon, Ono and Kyoko’s hair. According to the hairdresser, Lennon wanted a Beatle haircut, but when he saw the result, he asked to be cut shorter, which caused quite a stir internationally.
