STORY

Cows seem to have a better life being ecological.

‘Organic Day’ is celebrated today. It is the biggest national organic event, currently attracting close to 250,000 Danes according to the organizers. On this day, organic cows across the country will be let out into the open fields after a winter spent in the cowshed.

In Denmark a conventional cow graze 6% of their life, while an ecological cow does from right now in April, all summer and until the winter starts.

X% of Danish farming is ecological, but in order to deliver a better product are X% turning ecological by 20xx.

On Tranegaard, in Helsinge close to Copenhagen, 100 cows were let out and people were invited to see it. The Sunday event was sold out in Denmark.Hundreds were enjoying the day with nature.

A farm cafe served food from the cows and you can see the difference in colors between normal farming and ecological farming

The butter is more yellow, because of the grass the cows eat.

In Denmark, there are no covid restrictions at the moment.

Ecology is the overall name of a system, where things are connected – like life and death.

The cow becomes part of nature’s ecological system. Things used to help the next is the system 100%. No chemicals destroying some for the next.

Like the shit from the cow gives food to small insects and birds.

“The dancing cow day as this day is called. It’s one of the happiest day of the year because that means that we can do what the animals are supposed to do to be out under an open sky. And it’s also one of the happiest days because so many of the Danish population will come here and see the cows released out to the spring and summer field where they will go or through summer and live the life they’re supposed to.”
      • SOUNDBITE Eik Pedersen
“The cows going out on the fields and released and see the happiness that they feel when they’re finally getting to see the new grass and yeah, it’s always a joy for the children  to see the animals get free. Yeah. This is one of the highlights of the day. Yes.”

“This is my third or fourth time being in an ecology farm, and I think it’s just very good to see how the animals are brought up and then read the animals. We live in a city called Aarhus, and we don’t see a lot of animals there from farm life. So in this good way to show the children. I’ve got three daughters and to show them how it’s done and where the meat and the the milk and all the stuff come from. Yeah”

“And I think on an organic cow, you can see that, for instance, in the milk and in the butter, when it’s released out on the on the field, it will get more yellow. And that’s because they eat grass. And if you can see an organic cow who is living as close to its instinct and how it’s supposed to, will be a more contained cow and the animal welfare will shine through.”

“You know, organic life means living a healthier life with not so many artificial ingredients in.”

“Organic is a kind of lifestyle. I think it’s,. It’s the way we do things.

“Ecology for me me, it’s a way to eat healthy and take care of the animals and show our future generations how they can take care of the earth. Actually, and I know it’s a bit more expensive, but I think it’s a good way to, To take care of the earth and the future generations to come.
