STORY

The Danish Majesty The Queen turned 83 years old and on this occasion, thousands of people showed up at the Royal Castle Amalienborg in Copenhagen to show her respect and wish The Queen a happy birthday.
The Royal Danish Family is among the oldest in the world.

Amalienborg is The Queen’s main palace and the Royal Guard was dressed in red gala, as always when  the Queen is celebrating her birthday.
The Royal Life Guards Music Corps is the world’s oldest orchestra of its kind.

“It was fantastic”, said Richard Coughlinm a visiting tourist from England, 54, and continued:: We were surprised to see so many people in the square. All the flags, all the real affection that people showed for theQueen. It was great to see.”

The crowd sang the traditional Danish birthday song with the lyrics: “..And may you live long and have your wishes fulfilled with lovely chocolate and cakes to go with it..”.

The Queen applied traditionally with 3 long and 3 short “hurra´s”; some shouted an extra hurra, when all stopped, that made the big crowd laugh. “Hurra!”

“It was a very nice experience being here celebrating the Queen”, said Heidi Schnoor. Clinical dietitian, 43., “I haven’t been here before, even though I’ve been living in Copenhagen for 20 years. But it gave me a very warm feeling being here, being able to sing a song for our Queen.”

The Queen was joined by her two sons and their families. On The Queen´s right hand was Crownprince Frederik, who will be the future King. He was with Crown Prince Mary and the children Prince Christian, Princess Isabell, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

On her left hand was Prince Joachim with his wife Marie Cavallier ( g. 2008 ) and children Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik and Countess Athena.

“The monarchy is still going strong because Denmark is a small country” says Peder Laursen, Former Royal Guard, 53 says, “ we are proud to have a Queen in Denmark.”

The Royal Life Guards Music Corps was founded with the Royal Army in 1658. It is primarily  flutes and drums and consists of 350 men, all above 18.

“I’m here because I’ve been in the Royal Guard and my son is now in the Royal Guard and he’s here today”, continuous Peder Laursen, 53.

The Danish flag is more than 800 years old, making it the world´s oldest national flag still in use. The Royal Family is dating back to 958 making it among the oldest monarchis in the world.
The Queen signs all laws decided by the government and welcomes all Ambassadors coming to Denmark.

The Royal family brings high value to the places they visit and give attention.
The Queen was for instance in China in 2014, establishing big export relations between China and Denmark.

The Queen has not been able to step out on the balconies at Amalienborg for 5 years due to COVID and the Queen celebrating her birthday in other places in Denmark aswell.
