STORY

Denmark host one of Europe’s top 3 music festival all with app. 130.000 people is attending.

The main stage on Roskilde Festival is the Orange Stage, that used to belong to Rolling Stones.’

Roskilde Festival is the oldest dating music festival in Europe from 1971.

 

95% of the music-names are new internationally, but well known in there respective countries. Many have just been awarded Best New Artist in there country or region, like forinstance UK, Romania, Switzerland, Africa, US or Japan. 

The audience are guaranteed unpredictable and never before seen experiences, which gives a special atmosphere.

 

Nana Klemens, visitring from United Kingdom express:
“Well, I’ve been here for the first time, but I see it’s a very energizing mood over here and it’s cool artists and the Danes have a good vibe. So this is why we joined.”

 

There are 9 stages in total.

4% of the names comes from Asia, while 58% comes form Europe, 22% from US, 8% from Africa and 3% from South America.

 

The 80.000 of the 130.000 people stays on camps close to the stages. 

The camps are very peaceful and performers, grafitti painters and poets contributed to the full programme, that gives peace and harmony in the camp areas.

 

The young peopleare very relaxed and enjoying the music and each others company. 

Thomas Ravn, a guest, that has been coming to Roskilde since 1986 says: 

“There are so many friendly people that get along and enjoy themselves without getting aggressive. And I think it’s 130,000 and that’s a lot. And that’s a pretty nice atmosphere everywhere.”

 

After years of corona, that cancelled the festival in 2020 and 2021, has the festival opened up for more people. In 2020 did 70.000 attend and now it is 130.000 + additional 45.000 volunteers helping selling food and arranging all the practical.

 

This low salaries also means, that Roskilde Festival is making a profit on 13-15 million DKK. (€2.5 mio).

All profits from the festival are donated to humanitarian, non-profit and cultural work for the benefit of especially children and young people. 

Since 1971 has Roskilde Festival generated more than EUR 57 million for charity.

 

The aim is to support possibilities and dreams of young people, that creates business opportunities within sustainable living, arts and alike.

 

The Roskilde Festival is located 50 minutes from Denmark.

Roskilde Festival 2024 takes place from 29 June – 6 July.
