STORY

Winter is nearly ending and Danes are looking for the first flowers.

At plant shops or plant nurseries can you buy the seed and onions for the ground or even find the first easter-flowers now.

Gardener Simon Brun Andersen says: “The Danish winter is long and it’s cold and it’s very dark and all the leaves fall from the trees and everything seems bare and in dark colors.
So when springtime arrives, all the Danes really long for colors and flowers and warm colors, especially to, like, get a good start on the springtime“.

There are 3 famous easter plants in Denmark and one of theme is Chinese and the most spectacular.

However the most famous is Narcissus or Easter lilies.

Simon Brun Andersen continous.:
“The Narcissus is one of the most popular early spring flowers in Denmark. And actually, we call it the Easter Lily because it blooms normally around Easter time. And Easter is the big spring holiday in Denmark. So it’s a very happy flower for us because it reminds us of spring and holiday.”

The Chinese flower Camelia is very popular in Denmark.
Simon Brun Andersen explains:

“The most spectacular flower we have in Denmark in springtime is the camellia flower. But it’s difficult to grow in Denmark because it’s actually a bit too cold. So you need to grow it in greenhouses. But I’m pretty sure that in China it grows in nature because it is domestic of China.”

Camelia is one of the most romantic flowers around and have a very deep meaning of romantic love, devotion, adoration and care.

The very first plant o be seen at Easter is the Prunus:
“Actually, we stand here with one of the earliest messengers of spring, as you can say, the Prunus family. And I think that worldwide Prunus is always a good sign that spring is coming when the prunus flowers arrive and blossom in front of us.”

During winter last thee longes dark night 17 hours, however opposite in the summer the nights with lights last 17 hours. Temperatures in Denmark between winter and summer goes from minus 10C to +30 the winter.
