STORY.

For the first time in the world a FERRARI was built full size in LEGO bricks.

It was presented in the town where LEGO was first invented, Billund in Denmark.

It took 2,711 hours or 339 days to construct with help from Ferrari designers.
All in all 383,610 LEGO bricks used.

The only original FERRARI components are the steering wheel and wheels.

“This car looks absolutely amazing. It is beautiful, red and I really like it only has one seat” say 12 year old Donovan Carillo visiting.

The weight of the full size LEGO car is 1 ton and 340 kg.

The FERRARI Monza SP1  was constructed in 2018, but is a celebration of the iconic racing cars of the 1950s.

“It is fantastic for all of us to see this beautiful LEGO model finally here in LEGOLAND. We have been waiting for a long time”, says Christian Woller, Managing Director LEGOLAND.

LEGOLAND in Billund was the first LEGOland in the world, opnened on June 7 in 1968. It is visited by app. 1.9 mio. people per year.

Today there are 8 LEGO LANDS around the world.

Many LEGO fans ventured to Billund to see the presentation like Peter Larsson, visiting from Sweden: “It’s amazing how they manage with all the shapes and all the edges and everything. I can imagine the work behind this.”

Designer William Thorogood was also impressed: “Actually manage to replicate that sculptural form is really impressive”.

Ferrari themselves was happy for the world premiere: “We really hope that all ages enjoy the attraction.” says Annabel Rochfort, Ferrari´s Director of Entertainment & Esports.

The FERRARI will be exhibited permanently in LEGOLAND in Billund, Denmark.

LEGOLAND in Billund got 50 areas with LEGO constructions.

The LEGO bricks were invented in 1949 by Ole Kirk Christiansen and the family still owns LEGO and lives in Billund.
