STORY
The excitement was clear in Tivoli a few days before the Tour de France starts le
Grand Depart in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Tivoli have all night set up a salute to Paris by rebuilding a copy of the Eiffel Tower in yellow.
General Director of The Tour De France Christian Prudhomme explained to the
press:
“It´s really very far from France. And it´s the most Northern continent, ever. But I think Denmark deserves it. Why?
Because all the population is on bikes and because you love the tour and have so
many viewers on TV2. Because you have more and more very talented riders, men
and women, and because Kasper won the Tour de Flanders (ref. Kasper Asgreen
4/4-2021), because Mads Petersen was world champion, (ref. 2021) because Jonas
Vindegaard was 2. last year on the Tour. All these things, made, we are here now.
I´m very happy and very proud. Thank you.”
The festice is Denmark lives up to the General Director wildest expectations. He
sees persons and cities decorating there houses and squares with bicycle art and
festice.
In Haderslev has a person painted the water tower with red dots and his whole
house as well.
In Nyborg, where 2nd. stage ends after crossing Europe’s longest Bridge The great
Belt Bridge, have they set up bike art on the squares and cut 1000 bike shirt cut in
wood.
Sophie Hæstorp Andersen Mayor of Copenhagen, that will host the first time trial on
13 km passing monumental tourist attractions like The LIttle Mermaid. Queens
Palace and New Haven explains, that she also hopes the world will “have seen a
Copenhagen that is yellow, that is happy, that is inviting people in not only for
professional cyclists, but also for everyday cyclists. And we hope to inspire the rest
of the world to go more in this direction because it is a carbon neutral way of living
and is also a healthy way of living.”
The festivities will start Wednesday will the team presentation in Tivoli, followed by a parade tour through Copenhagen.
